The cover artwork and graphics (images) and other content (documents) found at this site have been provided by contributing artists/users who submitted them.
Copyright and all rights therein are maintained by the artists/authors/users who submitted the said content, notwithstanding that they have offered their works here electronically. It is understood that persons copying this information will adhere to the Terms of Use. These works may not be reposted without the explicit permission of the copyright holder.
The fact that a specific cover artwork has been submitted to MetCoverArt and published on the Internet is in itself a clear message that the artists/users wants the cover artwork (images) to be seen and shared, and that he or she is not interested in collecting a toll each time someone takes a look at it or uses it in a personal collection (so long as the artist's credential logo is not removed from the cover artwork itself).
However, this does not mean that ordinary copyright concepts have ceased to apply - there is still someone who has the copyright to the work. Note that MetCoverArt itself is not always the copyright holder; instead, it is either the original artist(s) or a user who is the copyright holder. Please respect their rights, and abide by the following natural rules:
The following is always permitted:
To view the cover art and graphics (images) and other content (documents) on-line, without restrictions.
To make printouts, or save cover art (images) to a local harddisk for your own personal use. You may not sell or redistribute cover artwork or other graphics (images) in any way.
The following is never permitted without permission from the copyright holder and Metallica:
To sell copies of cover artwork and other graphics (images).
To include or use the graphics (images) and other content (documents) on any web site, guestbook, chatroom or in a book or journal that is to be published.
To post or distribute a modified version of the cover art or graphics (images) and other content (documents).
To use whole or parts of the cover art or graphics (images) and other content (documents), in any way, with or without your own modifications, while pretending that it is your own or someone else's work.
To use the cover artwork or graphics (images) and other content (documents) in any other way, a written agreement from the artist/author is needed. To obtain such permission, please apply to the current copyright holder. The copyright holder is indicated as a credential logo somewhere on the cover art itself.
